The Cunard Line flagship's whistle was sounded from its berth at Southampton docks at midday. The same action was undertaken by the Queen Mary on 15 August, 1945. At the celebration, the ship's master, officers and crew received the Freedom of the City of Southampton from the mayor Edwina Cooke. Cunard's previous flagship, the Queen Elizabeth 2, was also given the freedom of the city in 1990. Queen Mary 2 is the world's largest, longest, tallest, grandest Ocean Liner ever! As she set sail from Southampton on her maiden voyage on January 12, 2004 excitement surrounded her from all over the world.
